Uniform Day...my girl grows up!

WOW.... My girl is all grown up in her big girl school uniform... Can you stand it???

Today was the first day Mary Kate wore her school uniform. This was because the first day was "meet the teacher" and they would wear whatever they wanted. The second day she was in her glory, because her FRAVORITE ... PE day and she got to wear her gym uniform.

But today was the BIG one... she wore her uniform... she was SOOOOO proud of her self. We went to drop off product for a client of mine this afternoon and she just kept telling him "I go to Aquinas Academy" She loves her school so very very much. It is so awesome to see.

I went to Parent Teacher night and got to see both the girls' teachers. It was so fun to see the mom's returning and the "rules" begin. I swear we have more trouble with them than the kids do.

I can NOT say enough about the uniforms though... our mornings have been so much easier with out fighting over what she'll wear. She is so proud and so eager to get dressed.

We'll see if she keeps it up.

I can't believe that little girl who cooed and awed over the tv on her blanket, so teeny tiny is all grown up and ready to say, "MOMMMMMMMM, First graders do NOT pack a snack!!!"

Claire meets her teacher tomorrow... she is over the moon excited... we've had trouble getting her to sleep. Tonight Tim found her sleeping in the middle of her bedroom floor..... She probably got up to ask if it was Thursday yet, as she has done every night this week, and fell asleep on the way. We've been getting up at 6:30 and I for one am NOT used to it.... neither is Claire... we like our sleep.

LETS GET READY TO RUMMMMBBBLEEE.. a new school year!

FIRST GRADER in the house!!!!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS... she's a first grader.
I can hardly believe that my little girl is a first grader.... I can't stand it. Today was "Meet the Teacher Day".. actually I forgot to get a photo with the teacher.. but we'll have lots of time for that, I'm sure.

Today Mary Kate had her first 'unofficial' day as a first grader. It was BIG FUN. We met her teacher, saw her class room and got to take a few new students on a tour of the building. Mary was in her GLORY meeting the other kids and being the "kid in the know". She LOVED it.

She was hysterical though, because she whips out her trusty notebook from her PINK HELLO KITTY back pack (thanks AUNT AIMEE...we love it) and starts writing down the names of EVERY CHILD IN THE ROOM... HYSTERICAL. I told the teacher she may want to check with Mary Kate to see if anyone is absent tomorrow. I have no doubt she'll be a GREAT first grader. She is already reading so well.

It is always hard for me to go be in the school knowing how much I love teaching and how much I'd love go back... BUT not enough to actually GO BACK. I just kept thinking the whole time if I were still working a "regular j0b" today would have been so stress full having to have all my kids in my classroom and knowing that Mary would have to come to school with a grandparent or go back to day care after. Instead.. we and some friends went to brunch and worked on a project for the school. They had a ball.

It is going to be such an exciting new school year. Claire starts pre k next week. She'll go twice a week for a few hours each day. I am still a bit skeptical, wanting her to be there more... she is so ready.. but know that she needs to be where her age puts her. Where Mary is the youngest in the class room, Claire will be the oldest. This will put them three years apart in school instead of the two we'd hoped for... but that is all good. Who wants two college tuitions for two years, right?

The girls are going to do so well being together in the same school we are so excited. Claire is already excited to know that she has two friends in her class.

Tomorrow is the first BIG BIG DAY.. so we will gear up for that tonight after our soccer meeting... time to pick a team!!!!! HERE WE GO .... FALL IS HERE!!!! The madness begins!

More summer birthday fun....

Singing, crafting and having a great time with friends!!!

Well, we are finally back....
I have to say we had to take a blogging break... sometimes you just don't want to examine your life...you just want to live it....

But lately, my heart is so full of joy and pride, I just HAVE to share......

MY DAUGHTER IS SIX!!!! Can you stand it.... We had a wonderful week. Wed. we went to lunch then went mini golfing after Tim got home from work. Mary Kate had a BALLLL... she loved it.
Then Friday, the Makusky's came to visit from MD and we went to the Zoo to see Mary Kate's favorite, the ELEPHANTS.. She had a so much fun. Then it was home for the BIGGEST BIRTHDAY BASH Roxbury drive has ever seen!!! At one point, we had 18 first graders in the pool. They swam, sang Kaoreke, and the watched HIGH SCHOOL THE MUSICAL projected ont he side of our house. Like a drive in movie.. The kids had so much fun... I think the Greensburg Social event of the season!!!! HSM is a musical about kids in school and basketball is a key subject... mary loves it... singing, dancing AND basketball.... her favorites... She picked a basket ball cake, too... My dad would have LOVED IT.
